| A “working fire dispatch” was immediately requested by Captain 14 bringing additional units to the scene. Engine Tanker 14 arrived two minutes after response, dropping a supply line which was picked up by E331. The crew deployed an attack line initially protecting exposures, and transitioning to a direct fire attack. Subsequent units arrived and deployed two more hand lines assisting in fire attack. The fire was under control 22 minutes after initial dispatch and all units were clear of the scene at two hours and 21 minutes from dispatch. The barn, on the farm of a former IFC Fire Chief is a total loss. There is one steer unaccounted for, and confirmed loss of three goats. Quick action by neighbors were able to release the cattle prior to fire department arrival. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal. Units on the scene: A special thank you to Bennett Excavating (572 Poplar Rd) for providing an excavator to assist crews with final extinguishment. And also a thank you to local farming community for stepping up to assist. |
