| The crew worked the mulch pile for over six hours prior to be relieved, while the unit shuttled over 30,000 gallons of water, directly supplying units from Souther York County, and Eastern Lancaster County. This is a first for Irishtown working with those units and departments. This incident had the potential to be far worse. There was one reported case of heat exhaustion, and a few sections of hose burned amongst all the responding units. The incident highlights the best of the mostly volunteer crews that ran the incident from top to bottom, as well as the career agency members that responded. Although physically exhausted, crews never wavered in their determination to mitigate the incident. Pictured is the Engine Tanker supplying E58 from New Freedom. |
