SANDY & CANDY RELAY FOR LIFE BINGO
Mar 5th -
"Sandy & Candy's Dream Team" held a benefit Basket Bingo
for the Relay for Life Foundation. Irishtown Fire
Company provided the meal services. "The American Cancer
Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that
gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance
to celebrate the lives of people who have battled
cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against
the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a
local high school, park, or fairground and take turns
walking or running around a track or path. Each team is
asked to have a representative on the track at all times
during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays
are overnight events up to 24 hours in length." Proceeds
from the Basket Bingo offset the cost of this event.

NEW AED's PLACED INTO SERVICE
|
Feb 23rd -
Irishtown Fire Company purchased two Medtronic
Lifepak 500 AED's. An AED is a device that
automatically analyzes the heart rhythm and, if
it detects a problem that may respond to an
electrical shock, that permits a shock to be
delivered to restore a normal heart rhythm.
Abbreviated AED. Thanks to their small size and
ease of use, AEDs have been installed on Special
Unit 14 and in the social hall. As of January 1,
2010 Special Unit 14 will respond on all cardiac
and respiratory arrest in the Irishtown Fire Box
Area.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR PAST CHIEF 20
Feb 22nd -
Irishtown Fire Company attended the funeral service for
former Littlestown Fire Chief Micheal Sneeringer.
"As the procession from Little's Funeral Home
approached, the crowd of mourners grew quiet. When
Sneeringer's casket, draped in an American flag, was
taken from the back of an Alpha truck, the street grew
quieter still. And as pallbearers walked slowly toward
the church, the only sound along the packed thoroughfare
was the echoing snap-snap of a camera's shutter, as
Sneeringer's family led the way inside. "This is a
tribute to the man," said Alpha's president, Tori
Spangler, as hundreds of firefighters and friends walked
into the church. "But nothing will seem like the same
now." Quote From The Evening Sun Newspaper.
